My original plan after the season was over and Avery was fired was to rename the site and make it a more general Mavericks blog. But, after a weekend away and not having to worry about missing stories or getting a post up I’ve decided to just shut it down. Turns out I’m just not made to be a blogger.

The site achieved what it was made to do, see Avery Johnson out of Dallas. Add that to the guy I said I’d like to see as coach, Rick Carlisle, most likely getting hired and I think it was a pretty good two month run.

Big thanks to all the regular commenters that really kept the site going. It’s been a blast reading all of your comments. The site ended up getting 23,000 unique visitors from 110 different countries, which is just amazing to me.

I’m going to leave the site up and comments will still be enabled, so feel free to continue chatting amongst yourselves. Be sure to check out these excellent sites for all your Mavericks and NBA news:

DallasBasketball.com

Mavs Moneyball

The Dallas Morning News Mavericks Blog

True Hoop Blog

It’s been fun. Go Mavs.

Fish from DallasBasketball.com had a discussion with Matt Moore from Hardwood Paroxysm and myself about the situation and what we’re expecting to get out of it.

Will Brinson with AOL Sports Fan House vaguely suggests that the reason for all of Cuban’s rule changes about the credentials is because of my request.

Upside down again has a post about the NBA’s reversal of the ban and how Baron Davis’ blog has done nothing but help his standing in Oakland.

Tim MacMahon from the DMN blog has a quick note about my request.

Richie Whitt from the Dallas Observer is writing his article this week about the ban. He also says that so far the number of invitations extended by Cuban can be counted on one hand.

And finally today Mavs Moneyball had a little April Fool’s Day fun this morning.

Maybe, depends on how the rest of the season goes – 175

Since I don’t have as much time to dedicate to this as I’d like I’m looking for someone to help out with some of the writing. So if you’re interested in writing for the site send me an e-mail at contact@fireavery.com with an example article. I’ll pick the best one I get, if any, and give you access to post on the main page. There’s nothing in it for you, just having your posts on the front page.
