we had a coach who made the playoffs every year, set the franchise records for wins and winning percentage, led the team to the ONLY finals appearance ever, helped keep this team relevant when it was sinking the year he took it over, and all this in less than 4 years.
I guess you all forgot what it was like to be the worst team in the league for an entire decade. To hope the team could at least win 10 games a season, 20 if we kept our fingers crossed.

So what if avery lost a couple of players, replace them, not him. Is the next coach going to have anything even close to avery’s body of work over the duration of the next 3 ful seasons? 73% winning percentage, a trip to the finals, consecutive 50 win seasons?

donnie Nelson is the only candidate that dows anything for me. I don't think he wants the job, because he will be out in 3 years.

Apparently, JVG is not totally out of the picture which prompted me to uncock the gun whose barrel was until recently placed squarely on my temple. This is according to db.com. Of interest it says...

ITEM: Very important to note: If you survey Mavs insiders as to which of the three is “the best pure coach,’’ Jeff Van Gundy is your winner.

I told y'all beeyatches.

His 'disinterest' could just be him being coy and a good negociator. I hope so. I think he is clearly the best guy available.

HIRE JVG!

What about Randy Ayers. He's a good defensive coach that loves up tempo. He's at Washington now I think so he could convince Arenas or even Jamison to come if they haven't already signed and we somehow fit them into our roster.

I sure wish Donnie would change his mind. He would make a very good head coach if he had the desire.

Source: Mavs Want D'Antoni
May 2, 2008 - 11:33 am
Arizona Republic -
An NBA source said Mike D'Antoni is first on Dallas' wish list to replace Johnson.

Chicago and New York also might be interested in D'Antoni, but GM Kerr said he would not grant permission to a team wishing to speak with D'Antoni.

No one wants to come coach this sinking ship...everyone knows the next coach is going to be fired Cuban thinks he can win a championship with the team he has now...and they just are not as talented as other teams in the west. Next season could be brutal!!!
