This season is over

Well, this season is done. Here’s hoping they fall to 9th in the West and get a draft pick this year. Then Donnie and Avery can both be replaced this offseason and this thing can get somewhat of a fresh start. That is as long as Dirk didn’t tear his ACL and is out until this time next year.

    The problem is as simple as this:

    With Kidd in the lineup, ISOLATION plays DO NOT WORK…

    The only Offense Avery knows is ISOLATION…

    We must be a motion offense where Josh can attack the rim, Dirk will get wide open looks as opposed to bull**** post fadeaways, and Kidd will facilitate better than ever.

    This sucks i didn’t want the Mavs to trade for kidd in the first place and now we are 0-8 against teams with winning records.

    dude what does donnie have to do with this? last i checked a GM’s job is to get talent…and the Mavs with Dirk, Kidd, Josh, JET, Dampier, Stackhouse, Bass, etc are very talented. its not his fault that avery johnson doesn’t put kidd in the game with 30 seconds left, has made the best 7 foot shooter in nba history a post player, the best passer in the league a spot up shooter, and the best slasher on the team an isolation black hole…

    When the Mavs were playing the cellar dwellers, it was exciting to watch the games. Jason Kidd created and it was fun to watch. Then this piss ant of a coach decides to play Spurs “boring ball” half court ball.

    To you General Piss Ant; not everyone can be like you. Quit micro-managing and let them be themselves and have fun.

    Didn’t see the game. Woke up here in Australia at 7am this morning feeling good about the result for some reason. Logged on and ‘holy shit’. It’s hard to win when your opponent pts up 15 more field goal attempts than you do and 13 more free throws.
    The Spurs annoy the shit out of me. It’s the same 3 scorers every win. If just one of their scorers have an off night, they lose nearly every time. Double team someone, make one of the others make their shots. Don’t tell me, Avery didn’t look that far into it! Right?!
    Apparently Cuban wore an “Avery’s Team” shirt to the game. Interesting. Seem sarcastic to anyone else or just me?
    The stats suggest they missed Stack in the 4th quarter as well. It’s so frustrating to work hard for a lead, and a big one at that, to see it fall away in minutes. Although I think Avery’s T was more a long term frustration thing I would guess. Like I said, didn’t see the game. Who did Avery have on the floor during the 19-0 run?
    Anyway hope you guys enjoy watching Avery suck in the third dimension against the Clippers on Tuesday.

    While Avery should be first in line to get the ax Donnie shouldn’t go free either. The Mavs have no young talent, have the highest payroll in the NBA and haven’t had a successful draft since they got Howard. Yeah a lot of that goes to Cuban too, but he isn’t going to fire himself. But in keeping with the spirit of the site I’ll lay off of Donnie.

    Avery is so much better than I ever will be as a player. I am so glad he micro-manages my game so I can be so successful as a Maverick.

    Greg, don’t forget that the Mavs also drafted Devin: which landed Kidd. You can’t blame Donnie for supplying young talent that Avery couldn’t/wouldn’t coach and let play. I loved the trade but Devin’s numbers are up in Jersey since he is playing free: something Avery never let him do.

    First, Mark Jackson was a decent point guard in his time but his game analysis goes from silly to bizzare. From his accent I can tell he is from N.Y. I will say this: Fak Nu Yak. He actually said Tony Parker is the “best point guard finisher IN THE HISTORY OF THE NBA”. Jesus Wept. How much history do you know. Mabe he thinks George W. is the best president in the history of the country. Parker might have the best looking wife, but this is ridculous hyperbole. There have been half a dozen just from Jackson’s home city better. Ever hear of Tiny Archibald? Twice the range and twice the finisher and a better passer and quicker. And before Kareem came out of Power Memorial H.S. in new york they had a kid nammed Lenny Wilkins who is in the hall of fame as a player and coach, down the mass pike a bit there was a frenchman named cousey who was called houdini. Basketball did not start with Lebron friggin James. And yes Dirk is unique but Bird was almost as big, better at everything than Dirk and better at everything than Kidd in 1 player, in addition he played better team defense and has the killer instinct of a great white shark.
    The game.

    Just before Dirk got hurt I was screaming at the widescreen. Dirk had just been mugged for the 3rd time in a row and those bastards with the whistles stood there like frickin statues. Since Stern runs the NBA like the WWF, I was hoping and praying that Cuban would come out of the stands and sucker punch one of those worthless assholes. Or Dirk, Hey even if they banned you for life Dirk, Take you millions back to Stutgart. These bastards are never going to give you a break. Dirk repeatdly goes to the hole and those misarible bastards swallow their whistles. Please, Please, If you blog here, and you have TiVo or any of its competitors, Record the games. The officiating is inconsistant and lop sided as hell. Just before the injury Dirk had Parker on him on a switch for a obvious mis match. He took him low and Parker pushed both elbows into the small of Dirks back and tried to cut Dirk into, Parker looked like Nate Newton coming off the line on a third and inches. Those sorry bastards just stood there with their Whistles. The ball went to the other end and dirk touched duncans back and the whistle blew. I don’t know dirk, I guess since you have never been acused of forcible rape or other crimes against women or been caught in a hotel room with hookers and a 8 ball of coke that your tee shirts just don’t sell. MVP my ass. The refs treat him like he is the 12th man on the heat. I honestly wish Stack or Cuban or even Dirk would walk up to one of those assholes and just cold cock them. Mabe we need to be like those soccer fans in Europe and just kick their ass if they don’t do their job.
    Yes. The Spurs locked down on defense midway through the 3rd quarter and the Mavs could not match this defensive intensity. But not to the tune of a 19 point run. Bull butter. Kidd took a charge with 2 minutes left and got a shit call. The Mavs get zero breaks and they are at home. Like I say, I admit the spurs took the game away with defense but the mavs had a lead and with anything aproaching fair officiating they would have won the game. One of the other bloggers here mentioned being sick of JOHO’s little wiggle move and then a jump shot that normally misses. If we see it don’t you think the scouts from the other teams do? They are not going to go for that fake. When Josh Howard is on the floor with Stack, Dirk and JET how can anyone think that a jump shot by Howard is the best option. Avery, or hopefully the guy who replaces Avery, Let Howard know that if he shoots the ball outside the painted area and the 24 second clock was not about to expire then he WILL spend the rest of the quarter on the pine. Josh needs to forget that there is such a thing as a jump shot. I don’t think Cuban has an option as far a firing Avery. I mean what the hell is going on with Kidd. You can’t get rid of him now so why the hell is he on the bench for half the game with some 3rd string no name out there against the world champs. Sure, he is not as good at set up offense as he is a transition but he is not bad at it and guy he replaced was no great set up guy either. The Mavs have no idenity right now. They look like they don’t know whether to shit or go blind. They have the talent to compete but that are not singing off the same sheet of music. I do not believe Avery Johnson is a pro coach and if he is he is not a pro head coach for a veteran team. I refuse to believe that someone smart enough to make a billion dollars cannot see that. I hope Dirk is OK.

    geez, im with captainjack. we need to seriously start tivoing this bullcrap and compile clips of where the refs are cheating the hell out of us. i mean, at this point that’s what it is. it’s obvious that stern has made it clear that if you want your job, when mavs are on the court, call bullcrap. i thought it couldn’t get any worse after the celtics game but i was wrong. and speaking of mark jackson’s dumb ass, am i the only one who watches basketball? because obviously these idiots calling the game aren’t aware that ginobli is the biggest flopper in the game, and obviously didn’t see what i saw, when he LUNGED backwards into stack. What the hell? Somebody needs to kick his ass for that crap. I can’t believe a coach like Pop allows his players to play like patsies. yeah, they win, but damn, that’s weak. I don’t care how much friggin money mark cuban blows on stairsteppers, this isn’t his team, “avery’s team” or little donnie’s for that matter. It’s the fans and DIRKS damnit and if he doesn’t get a championship here send him somewhere where he will. This is bullcrap. Mark, you’re an asshole, i used to like you but, seriously, you need to can Avery NOW, get some TRUMP balls and do it. Dirk is getting old. Stack is getting old. Hell Kidd can barely see out there anymore. Let’s make a run and leave that little non-coaching jealous of his talent coach somewhere else. NOW!

    Avery can keep his job if he starts going ballistic when refs screw us. Throw your jacket to the ground, rip of your tip and spew spit from your mouth when you yell at them. That’s a start. I can’t even go to games anymore for fear that I might catch i case on one of these idiots.
