Avery’s defensive plan for Kobe

March 18th, 2008 Posted in Avery Johnson

Here’s Avery’s defensive plan for Kobe tonight.

“Hopefully he misses shots like he did against Houston. I didn’t see Houston with any trick defenses, and I didn’t really see them double-teaming him a lot. He just missed some shots.”

“Unfortunately, in our situation, we caught him on some nights when he’s been hot.”

So the guy goes for 52 against you two weeks ago and you can’t be bothered to even think about changing up your defensive strategy for him? And it’s not like that game was the first time he’s lit up the Mavs. Since Avery took over as coach Kobe has averaged 36.4 ppg against the Mavericks. That includes a 52 and 62 point showing. And after all that Avery can’t come up with anything different to try against him? Let’s all hope that the Mavs never have to face the Lakers in the post-season.

Kobe didn’t just “miss shots.” I put a hand in his face & stayed in front of him better than any Maverick player could hope for.

Avery has no idea what he’s doing.

Why have we still not sent a double team his way every single time he catches the ball?

    This is unbelievable.

It’s time to make an adjustment, Avery. Hoping Kobe will miss shots isn’t the answer.

Go take it out of his hands EARLY.

Up 2-0 against the Heat in 2006 was the high water mark for this franchise. They will never win a title. Oh well at least they’ll have a lottery pick this year when they miss the playoffs…..

5 points was as close as they’ll get tonight. This team has no heart and they are soft. I’m sick of the gay way that they play. Fire Avery now.

I hate how Avery has embarrased all of us $30K millionaires. It makes me want to crash my Miata into a tree. I shall now go post a message on Texags about this.

Playoffs? Don’t talk about playoffs. Are you kidding me? Playoffs?

Avery will let them play free enough to just make it into the playoffs, then sabotage them again during the series so he can win the bets he’s placed against his own team.
