Mavs 104, Lakers 108

March 2nd, 2008 Posted in Game Recap
Amazing game today and a tough loss, but at least Kidd was on the floor this time. Dampier was a monster before fouling out ending up with 16 points and 17 boards. He also did an outstanding job on Gasol defensively in the second half. Dirk was the man for the Mavs though, finishing with 30 points, 13 boards and 5 assist, but came up short, literally, on his last shot.As usual against the Mavs Kobe put on a clinic as he goes for 52 points, 30 of them in the 4th and OT. Avery’s going to have to find a way to slow him down since it seems the playoffs are going to go through LA.This also makes the Mavs 0-3 against teams above them in the West since the trade, a very worrying sign. We’ll have to see if Avery can get them going against these teams, otherwise it’s going to be another quick one and done in the playoffs. Jason Kidd during the Mavs loss to the Lakers

The play that sent the game to overtime was an inbounds pass to Kidd. Does that mean Avery taught him a new play since Thursday, or that Avery found out today that Kidd can be a difference maker whether he knows the playbook or not?

P.S. Kidd owes me royalties on that alley-oop play to Dampier…I invented that move!

Haha, Semi-Pro was a great movie.

Anyways, I seriously doubt Avery taught Jason that play, since it’s something any PG in the league should know by the time they’re out of high-school. Why something like that wasn’t available after the timeout with 10 seconds left against the Spurs, we’ll never know.

i’m starting to wonder if some of the players scare avery. i mean, he’s a little guy, and i bet josh and jet go into his office and tell him if they don’t play they’re gonna dunk him.
or better yet, oh, i know. some of the players don’t respect him because he wasn’t that great of a player. yeah, that’s it.
poor guy, can we not fire him because we feel sorry for him? is that what’s happening now? i mean we can’t fire the general can we?

Mavs traded for Kidd because they needed a coach on the floor. They certainly don’t have a coach on the bench. The Mavs are suffering while Avery learns how to coach and our window of opportunity has just about closed. Avery has a huge ego and always has an excuse why things don’t go our way. Look in the mirror Little General. You are the problem!

I am so sick of watching Avery get outcoached! This guy cost us a title in 06 when he failed to make adjustments, and last year when he got bounced by an 8 seed.Enough is enough! Get him out now! Two years from now will be too late! Kidd will be too old and Dirk is on the decline already.

You guys are toast. Dallas is terrible. Too soft. Kidd is not the answer. Your coach stinks and will never coach them to the promiseland. Get rid of him. You guys are done again in the first round.
